Trapped in a desert encampment in Chad, Abakar Adam, 70, dreams of returning to his small farm in neighbouring Sudan, nearby to the village where he was born.
But Mr Adam can’t go home.
Hidden from sight, he watched soldiers set fire to his farmhouse and slaughter his livestock three years ago. One month later, after resettling in the city of El Geneina in West Darfur he heard 40mm grenades rain down on hospitals while patients fought for their lives inside and witnessed civilians executed in the street.
